It was great to meet you at the AGR conference and we hope you enjoyed meeting the team and the shoulder and neck massages on offer (a little LaunchPad moment of luxury)! We thought we would share 'the word on the street' from our conversations with your fellow Graduate Recruiters: Candidate engagement and a great candidate experience is key in driving forward the use of technology in recruitment. We are positive that our selection tool will help give all your applicants a better chance to show their character, allowing you to spend time with the most suitable candidates.
One of the areas which interested many of you was mobile and social media and the ways in which you can engage the right candidates ahead of your competition. This is one of the reasons there has been such an increase in the use of a variety of recruitment technology and the reason that last month we launched our mobile app, to increase accessibility for applicants.
It was clear that your time is becoming even more precious as larger numbers of graduates are applying.
Statistically tools like video interviews can reduce the time you spend with the wrong candidates by up to ten times. Most recruiters spend 30 minutes on average on a telephone call (some even longer), however with video interviewing you can review candidates in just 3 minutes and gain a better understanding of your applicants character and suitability.
Finally, we noted that many recruiters are placing less emphasis on written applications (AGR Recruitment Survey 2013, P35) . More and more businesses are using technology in the early screening process because the graduates are just copy-pasting their answers between written applications and are therefore less reliable.
Recruiters find the assessment centers are one of the most useful tools in the selection process and so getting the right candidates to these faster is the aim for many.
