King & Wood Mallesons -

the challenge

King & Wood Mallesons wanted to reduce the man hours involved in the Graduate Recruitment selection process without compromising on the quality of the candidate experience.

 

Establishing their new employer brand as King & Wood Mallesons in the UK was also a priority after they combined with SJ Berwin, an already established name in the legal space.

 

They recognised that through the use of customised innovative technology, King & Wood Mallesons could improve their process and LaunchPad was chosen to deliver success.

the approach

Time was of the essence having 3 weeks to implement LaunchPad’s customised solution. Creating to a clearly defined implementation plan and working very closely with KWM who were very bought in, LaunchPad were able to deliver on time.

LaunchPad provided best practice advice and guidance throughout to ensure KWM created relevant video content to engage candidates very early on in the process.The content reinforced the size, scope and reach of KWM – a global player with global opportunities.

Video assessments were put in place to replace first stage face to face interviews which would previously have been carried out by fee earners who were being taken away from their core role.

results

KWM received close to 400 completed video assessments, a completion rate of over 90% and a huge improvement on their previous process which would have required all candidates to have individual face to face interviews just to screen candidates.

KWM were able to reduce their time to hire by 2 weeks which meant Fee Earners saved 200 hours of their time and HR saved 135 hours of their time, having a positive impact on their recruitment costs as well as allowing Fee Earners to focus on their core role. There was also a 40% increase in conversion rates at final stage interview which had a big impact on their quality of hire targets.

Finally, KWM were also able to find a large proportion of candidates for their Spring Vacation Scheme, again saving them value time and costs within their process.
